Conversation with Rev. Kennedy Mwita

Join us as we welcome Rev. Kennedy Mwita, a United Methodist District Superintendent in Kenya. Rev. Mwita will tell the story of his own journey to full acceptance of LGBTQ+ people and how he has navigated a hostile climate in both the church and in Kenya to become an outspoken advocate. Rev. Kennedy Mwita is a United Methodist District Superintendent in Kenya. Rev. Kennedy Mwita Marwa is the first born in a family of six in Moheto Village in Migori County, Kenya. He graduated from Africa University in 2013 as an ordained elder. He served as the executive director of Moheto Community Based Organization 2013-2017 to advocate for equality, dignity, and human rights around HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence, poverty, and FGM (female genital mutilation). Rev. Mwita served as the Pastor of Moheto First UMC, and in 2015, he was appointed to the cabinet as the District Superintendent of South Nyanza District in Kenya Ethiopia Annual Conference. He serves as the conference chair of the Board of Church and Society as well as the conference statistician.
