BaumanThe Reverend Dr. Stephen P. Bauman, Senior Minister

Stephen has guided the revitalization and growth of Christ Church since 1987. As Senior Minister and head-of-staff, he is the principle preacher and worship leader and focuses energy on strategic visioning, growth and leadership development. A graduate of Occidental College and Yale University, Stephen earned a PhD in Leadership and Change at Antioch University. Contact Stephen.

violet-hr-135-headshotThe Reverend Dr. Violet L.D. Lee, Executive Program Minister

As Executive Program Minister, Violet guides and coordinates the overall programmatic elements of our church life, including programming initiatives in Washington Heights. She has more than sixteen years of experience as Assistant Pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church, a storied New York City congregation, and in holding both MSW and PhD degrees. The mother of two young children, Violet lives with her family in Queens where her husband serves as Priest-in-Charge of an Episcopal congregation.  Contact Violet.

Leslie1The Reverend Leslie Houseworth-Fields, Associate Minister

Leslie serves as Associate Minister, having joined the church staff in September 2012. In addition to sharing in pastoral leadership, her responsibilities include outreach initiatives in New York City, leading effective programming for our youth and 20s/30s communities, as well as adult education and women’s ministry. Leslie has worked extensively with youth, including professional experience as a high school English teacher and youth minister. She is a graduate of South Carolina State, Clemson, and Emory universities. Contact Leslie.

 

Music

StevePforWebDr. Steven Pilkington, Director of Music and Organist

Dr. Steve Pilkington began his service at Christ Church in 1994. He oversees all the music ministries at Christ Church, as well as serves on the faculty of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ where he serves as Associate Professor of Sacred Music. A graduate of St. Olaf College and the University of Illinois, Steve earned a Ph.D. in Liturgics from Drew University. Contact Steve.

 

Dr. Fred Meads, Director of Music for Children and Youth

Dr. Fred Meads is a nationally-know choir trainer for children. He has worked at the American Boychoir School, an august ensemble that toured the world and often sang with the New York Philharmonic. Fred has just been appointed to the equally famed Princeton Girlchoir where he will be Director of Education. As a man of faith, he did choral work for Marble Collegiate Church here in Manhattan for a number of years.

 

 robertlambRobert Lamb, Bell Choir Director

An accomplished handbell conductor and published composer, Robert Lamb has authored music described as “wonderfully expressive” by Beckenhorst Press, Inc. Robert is a member of Handbell Musicians of America and is a current student at Westminster Choir College where he rings with the Westminster Concert Bell Choir. In addition to his responsibilities at Christ Church, Robert also serves as handbell choir director at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, NJ.

 

Alessandro Pittorino, Associate Organist

A native of Perth, Australia, Alessandro Pittorino received is Masters of Music at The Juilliard School. Heralded by The Australian as “a self-confessed showman who loves to engage with his audience,” he is smashing the stereotypes of the organ with his unique, flamboyant style, fashion, as well as his wide variety of music selections from classics to pop. And yet the has also performed at distinguished venues such as Philadelphia’s Longwood Gardens, The Cathedral of St. John the Divine NYC, and St Patrick’s Cathedral NYC. BrianPinterforwebBrian Pinter, Education Associate

Brian began his ministry at Christ Church in 2008 through teaching Bible study in the Sunday morning Adult Forum. He also assists with the youth group. Brian is a graduate of St. Joseph’s and Fordham, and has for several years served as campus minister and teacher of theology at Regis, a Jesuit school in New York City. Contact Brian.

 

Chad GurleyChad Gurley, Director of Connections and Communications

Chad is a graduate of Vanderbilt University Divinity School where he earned his Masters of Divinity degree. Professionally, Chad has worked in the fields of strategic engagement, development, and recruitment in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors, including organizations such as the Walmart Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Before pursuing his Master’s degree, Chad spent over nine years in academic administration at Columbia University after graduating from Harding University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication.  Contact Chad.

 

Administration

Roseann DeGennaroRoseann DeGennaro, Administrator

A native of the Upper East Side, Roseann has served as parish Administrator since 1993. She oversees the daily operations of the building, coordinates capital projects, manages building staff, and administers the finances of the church and day school. A graduate of CUNY, Roseann has spent her entire professional career in church administration. Contact Roseann.

 

Washington Heights

Mickey Correa, Pastor, Christ Church Washington Heights

Mickey a native of Brooklyn is of Puerto Rican descent. As a bi-vocational and bilingual pastor, Mickey serves as clergy at Christ Church Washington Heights, leading worship in English and Spanish and providing pastoral care.  Mickey’s professional experience, in addition to ministry, includes working as a licensed psychotherapist. Mickey also serves as a lecturer at the City College of New York and has also lectured at Fordham University in the past. Mickey earned his B.A. at Hunter College, majoring in History and Religion, his M.S.W. at Fordham University focusing on Clinical Social Work and specializing in the treatment of addiction, and his M.Div. from New York Theological Seminary. Monika Estrada Guzman, Program Director of El Nido

Monika holds an MSW from NYU’s Silver School of Social Work. Monika and her mom immigrated to California in 1986 from Guatemala. She graduated with a Social Work degree from California State University, Los Angeles in 2004. She was one of the Co-leaders for the Latinx Social Work Student Organization. Monika was one of the 13 pioneering students of the full semester in Buenos Aires MSW program. Monika is interested in working with immigrant Latino families, children and youth. She knows first-hand about the immigrant experience. Contact Monika.
