The Reverend Dr. Stephen P. Bauman, Senior Minister

Stephen has guided the revitalization and growth of Christ Church since 1987. As Senior Minister and head-of-staff, he is the principle preacher and worship leader and focuses energy on strategic visioning, growth and leadership development. A graduate of Occidental College and Yale University, Stephen earned a PhD in Leadership and Change at Antioch University. Contact Stephen.

violet-hr-135-headshotThe Reverend Dr. Violet L.D. Lee, Executive Program Minister

The Reverend Violet L. D. Lee, Ph.D. is the Executive Program Minister of Christ Church, United Methodist, of New York City.  She serves as the Academic Advisor to the M.Div/MS(S)W students enrolled in Columbia University and Hunter College’s Social Work Programs and is a regular Adjunct Professor/Visiting Lecturer for Union Theological Seminary. Having served in both the public and private sector, she has also served as a Pastoral/Church Consultant. Dr. Lee serves on the Ordination Council for the American Baptist Churches – Metropolitan New York and is a former member of the Board of Directors.  She has recently been elected to the Board of Directors for New York State Council of Churches and the Methodist Home for Nursing and Rehabilitation. Dr. Lee is married to The Reverend Canon Terence Alexander Lee.  He is the Rector-Elect of the historic St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in the Village of Harlem. Contact Violet.



Brandon Batson, Director of Communications and Connections

Brandon Batson is our new Communications and Connections Director at Christ Church. For the past 10 years, Brandon has served in vocational ministry as a church planter, worship leader, and creative director for churches in SC, CA, and NYC. He is passionate about seeing the church reach the next generation, provide inclusive community, and engage with the greater culture. Brandon has a Bachelors degree in English and Mass Communication and is in the process of getting his Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. Contact Brandon.

Nicole Armstrong, Director of Spiritual Formation

Nicole is the Director of Spiritual Education here at Christ Church. She is a recent transplant to NYC, originally born and raised in southern California. She received her B.A. in Sociology and Religion at California Lutheran University, then went on to Duke University, where she received her Master in Divinity. She moved home to pursue a year long residency in hospital chaplaincy, then moved into the role of Associate Pastor at Anaheim UMC. She was recently commissioned as a Deacon in the California-Pacific conference, meaning she is officially a Reverend y’all! Outside of church she loves traveling, live music, soccer, learning new things, and anything else that displays the beauty and brilliance of God’s creation. Nicole is passionate about creating spaces that seek to offer a safe environment for spiritual discernment, questioning, learning, and growth. Through her own life experiences she believes that these opportunities are vital to a strong relationship with the Divine, with oneself, and with the community. Through her role as Director of Spiritual Education, Nicole will be a part of creating retreats, curating forums, offering discussion groups, and leading children’s education. She loves one on one conversation and would love to get to know you over a cup of coffee!

Jake Nelson, Program Associate for LGBTQ+ and Parish Choir Director

Jacob “Jake” earned a Bachelors of Music Degree in Education and Voice from Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) and a Masters of Music in Sacred Music from Westminster Choir College (Princeton, NJ).  After previously serving congregations throughout Minnesota and New Jersey in both music and youth ministries, Jake began his journey at Christ Church with the music department as a tenor in the Chancel Choir, a recurring soloist for services and events, and the Parish Choir Director.  He is excited to dive into creating and nourishing our community as he takes on program development and coordination of LGBTQ+ ministries. StevePforWebDr. Steven Pilkington, Director of Music and Organist

Dr. Steve Pilkington began his service at Christ Church in 1994. He oversees all the music ministries at Christ Church, as well as serves on the faculty of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ where he serves as Associate Professor of Sacred Music. A graduate of St. Olaf College and the University of Illinois, Steve earned a Ph.D. in Liturgics from Drew University. Contact Steve.




Roseann DeGennaroRoseann DeGennaro, Administrator

A native of the Upper East Side, Roseann has served as parish Administrator since 1993. She oversees the daily operations of the building, coordinates capital projects, manages building staff, and administers the finances of the church and day school. A graduate of CUNY, Roseann has spent her entire professional career in church administration. Contact Roseann.


Amelia Acerra, Executive Administrative Assistant

Amelia is so excited to be a part of the Christ Church team.  A native New Yorker, Amelia is returning after living in Texas for over 20 years. She has spent the past 15 years supporting various ministries and leading non-profits. She has a heart and passion for helping to keep ministries reach their maximum potential through behind the scenes organization, process, and creativity. Washington Heights

Mickey Correa, Pastor, Christ Church Washington Heights

Mickey a native of Brooklyn is of Puerto Rican descent. As a bi-vocational and bilingual pastor, Mickey serves as clergy at Christ Church Washington Heights, leading worship in English and Spanish and providing pastoral care.  Mickey’s professional experience, in addition to ministry, includes working as a licensed psychotherapist. Mickey also serves as a lecturer at the City College of New York and has also lectured at Fordham University in the past. Mickey earned his B.A. at Hunter College, majoring in History and Religion, his M.S.W. at Fordham University focusing on Clinical Social Work and specializing in the treatment of addiction, and his M.Div. from New York Theological Seminary. Monika Estrada Guzman, Program Director of Nido de Esperanza

Monika holds an MSW from NYU’s Silver School of Social Work. Monika and her mom immigrated to California in 1986 from Guatemala. She graduated with a Social Work degree from California State University, Los Angeles in 2004. She was one of the Co-leaders for the Latinx Social Work Student Organization. Monika was one of the 13 pioneering students of the full semester in Buenos Aires MSW program. Monika is interested in working with immigrant Latino families, children and youth. She knows first-hand about the immigrant experience. Contact Monika.
