Advent with the Psalms – Mónika Estrada Guzmán

December 4th, 2018 by Monika Guzman-Estrada

Psalm 72:1
Justice shall flower in his days,
and profound peace, till the moon be no more.
May he rule from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth.

For all the immigrant children detained, alone and crying for their parents:

The pledge allegiance states “… One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”  The news of children being separated from their mothers and fathers at the border broke my heart. I was so filled with anger and sorrow it made me cry. How could this be happening? As, a social worker, I understand the traumatic impact of separating a child from her mother, disrupting a sacred bond. The effect on the child’s development and innate drive to thrive and flourish is serious. I could only think about our babies, toddlers and parents of El Nido. I hope that justice blooms for all these vulnerable children, that peace finds its way into the lives of those impacted by this cruelty. In this season of Advent, I pray that a renewed sense of compassion and humanity be born in the hearts of all Americans.  May justice may flourish in this land.

May God rule over our hearts, from sea to sea.
