Advent with the Psalms – Andrea Andrade

December 16th, 2018 by Andrea Andrade

Psalm 72:7

Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace forever.

The bus driver was rude this morning, so my fellow riders decided to be rude right back. Justice had been served! Or had it?

To think we have the power to serve as judge, jury and executioner is to forget that we ourselves have not been dealt the justice we deserve. God is a just God that sees it all, the good, the bad and the ugly. Does God treat you with justice? I can say I have not been treated with justice; I have been treated with mercy. God’s mercy has filled my days with peace. So what justice do we seek for others?

Do we seek human justice or God’s justice that is filled with mercy and undying love?  In the season of Advent we are invited to welcome anew that justice that integrates mercy, that justice that births peace.

P.S. To the bus driver: I hope that what ever made you react this way transforms into something amazing. Have a wonderful day!
