“To guide the feet of pilgrims along the path of peace…”

Pilgrims, path, peace:  Delightfully soothing to say and sing!  Simply put, a pilgrim is one who journeys, often over long distances, to a sacred place.  I’ve recently become a fan of Louise Hay’s affirmations for healing and well-being, and one of my favorites is “All that I seek is already within me.”  It stakes a powerful claim on our own capacity to journey within and find that which we desire. It’s also a challenge to listen to our inner wisdom in helping us manage and see beyond the expectations and pressures which surround us.

If you are similarly challenged, as you journey consider:

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”  Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Nothing contributes so much to tranquilize the mind as a steady purpose—a point on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye.”  Mary Shelley

“There is strong shadow where there is much light.”  Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

The path of peace has elements of uncertainty, shadows of doubt and confusion.  We journey with great company however.  We may find within:  pain, anger, love, inspiration, hope, joy, sorrow, curiosity, wonder, cynicism and frustration.  In the end, there’s a guide and a friend in Jesus.

Prayer: God, Please bless our pilgrimage of strong shadow and much light.  Amen.
