Outreach Benefit – Building On Our Dreams

We would like to invite you to our Christ Church 24^th Annual Outreach Benefit on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 6:30pm.

Our theme this year is “Building On Our Dreams”, reminding us that, only four years ago, it all started with the idea of building a new outreach ministry in New York City that eventually led to a mission to serve families living in poverty with infants and young children.   Out of our hopes and aspirations, El Nido was born and we now have a safe haven for these families in Washington Heights.

El Nido provides comprehensive intervention services for a number of families along with an early literacy program on Saturdays and a Thursday parent education program called “Las Orugitas”.  With your continuing support, we aim to offer a ten-week summer performing arts program to these Las Orugitas families. Our objective is to support families in need in any way that we can – from comprehensive care to providing space for infants to walk, crawl and play, something that many of us take for granted.

In addition to our Washington Heights ministry, the Church runs a number of other Outreach Programs:

• Service to the homeless of New York City through our Sunday evening Sharing Table;
• Our ongoing relationship with the residents of the Methodist Home for Nursing and Rehabilitation;
• Programs dedicated to helping New York City children in need through partnerships with the New York City Mission Society and Concourse House, a residence for homeless women and their children; and
• Engaging our partnerships throughout the United Methodist Church, including the work of the United Methodist City Society and the United Methodist Committee on Relief.

Our congregation is deeply committed to loving our neighbors as ourselves, and the Annual Outreach Benefit is a tangible expression of this.  Every dollar we raise goes to our Outreach Programs, directly benefitting people in need – nothing is lost to expenses along the way.
